Frequently asked questions
Yes. All LBA students will be asked to wear our school uniform, which is as follows: the girls will wear a navy-blue, knee-length, dress skirt and a burgundy Polo shirt ordered from Stec's in Rapid City (with the school's logo imprinted on it); the boys will wear navy blue slacks and a burgundy Polo shirt ordered from Stec's in Rapid City (with the school's logo imprinted on it). Students are allowed to wear dress shoes, casual shoes, tennis shoes (mostly solid in color), or boots. LBA also has specific rules concerning hair color, hair designs, hair length, etc. These rules are outlined in the Student Handbook. For more information on the rules as well as how to order skirts and/or polo shirts, please contact the school office.
No staff member will administer any medication, tranquilizers, or aspirin to any student for any reason without written authorization from parents. When enrolling your child(ren), you will be asked to fill out a medical release form that will give the staff permission to administer certain over-the-counter medication.
Yes, depending on the nature of the injury, parents will be contacted either immediately or at the end of the day. When applying for enrollment, you will sign a “medical release” form, which will give the LBA staff the permission to make immediate medical decisions in your absence, if necessary. However, if possible, we will contact you before making any major decisions.
Learning without discipline is impossible. Student offenses will result in a measure of discipline called demerits. If a student receives a certain number of demerits in a quarter, they will be asked to serve detention. Students will serve detention after school on the following Tuesday unless arrangements have been made with the teacher.
Any student who repeatedly pushes the rules to the limit or refuses to follow the rules may be asked to leave. We are not a reform school. Our purpose is to train students to love the Lord and to serve Him in every area of their lives. If a student is not willing to do this, he should not be attending Liberty Baptist Academy.
LBA has an educational, but fun music class for both elementary & middle/high school students. The students will also have the chance to participate in various seasonal programs throughout the school year. The middle/high school students will have the option to play chimes (a type of handbells). Periodically, the middle/high school may participate in music competitions.
In order for the staff to prepare for the school day, students should arrive at school between 7:40 am to 8:00 am. Please do not leave your child unattended before this time. The school or church will not be responsible for a child left unattended before the time stated above. Children must be picked up promptly or arrangements with other parents to do so must be made. Students dropped off before 7:40 am or picked up after 3:45 pm will be charged for the services at the rate of $10.00 per 15 minutes. If a student must stay after school for a detention, parents are to supervise their other children while waiting.
We accept payments throughout the year. There are three types of finance plans: one-time payment, monthly or quarterly. Parents will be asked to choose one at the beginning of the school. If not paid in full at the beginning of the school year, statements will be mailed out quarterly or monthly showing the balance due.
Liberty Baptist Academy operates under the "Alternative Instruction" clause of SD. Of which, we fulfill all of the state's requirements. However, we are not accredited. This is by our choice, not the State’s. Students who graduate from our school have been accepted to colleges & technical schools both in SD and other states. Students may have to take a college placement test depending on the college's requirements for enrollment. If you have questions about this, please contact us!
